Born in the Dominican Republic, Yolanda Borrás has taught in Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the U.S. She holds a degree in Music Performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and an M.A. in Educational Administration from Columbia University Teachers College. A member of leading organizations in the field of music and education, such as Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, Music Educators National Conference and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, she was a featured alumni in the Johns Hopkins University Magazine among other national and international publications. Yolanda is listed in Who’s Who of Outstanding American Women and Who’s Who in American Education (2004-2010).

Yolanda Borrás is the author of the I’m Bilingual book series, a unique approach that introduces children to the bilingual world though music. She is also the author of ¡Caramba! Kids (2006), a Parents’ Choice Silver Honor Award winning CD and the book ¡Caramba! Kids , Guide for Parents, Teachers and Caregivers.

Yolanda leads teacher-training workshops and is also a trilingual education consultant both in the USA and abroad. Conference and workshops in the USA have included: New York City, Texas, Indiana, California, Rhode Island, MENC National Biennial Conference, Global Language Convention. In 2011, Yolanda has been invited to present at the National Association for Bilingual Education National Conference in New Orleans and at the American Teaching of Foreign Languages Annual Convention and World Languages Expo in Denver, CO. In addition she is the Executive Director and Education Director of Conciertos de la Villa de Santo Domingo, which is a week-long music festival composed of concerts, master classes, and educational activities in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In 1999, Yolanda Borrás founded Musical Kids International, the one program in New York City specializing in arts-based bilingual education where children experience a second language through an interactive immersion program of music, dance, art and movement. The MKI curriculum focuses on authentic songs and dances imported from the original culture’s heritage. The unique combination of bilingual education, arts-based teaching, and exposure to the musical wealth and cultural traditions drawn from around the world makes Musical Kids International the premier bilingual educational program for pre-school age children in New York City.
